Welcome to the Quakers Hill Anglican Church web site. We are pleased that you have taken the time to drop in. This site has two main purposes:

1. Provide the community of Quakers Hill and the local area with information about the church, its activities and ministries.

2. Provide members of the church with a site that can be used as a reference and also to keep up to date with the many activities that happen each week.

This site also provides plenty of general information for the casual observer... so stay a while and find out a little more about our church.

This site was designed to work with version 4 and above browsers. You may notice some formatting issues if you are using browsers earlier than this. If your screen resolution is lower than 800x600 you may not be able to see the menu bar on the right at the top. If this is the case you will be missing the various areas of our site. The options are Ministry Areas, Services and Whats On, This Week at QHAC, Calendar, Baptism and Sermons.

The old St Stephen's Anglican Church at Quakers Hill was in existence since the 1920's, linked at various times to larger nearby parishes such as Riverstone and, most recently, Doonside.

Quakers Hill became a separate entity in 1991 under the leadership of the Rev Stuart Robinson. Services were initially held in St Stephen's church, which was a small building situated in the older part of Quakers Hill.

As part of the Vision For Growth programme, the Anglican Church obtained a site located centrally to a huge new housing development. Services were held in a demountable building until the present worship centre was completed and opened in August 1993. A building adjacent to the church provides extra space for meetings and a range of children's activities.

Quakers Hill Anglican Church has experimented with a number of strategies aimed at reaching people in the community and teaching them to follow Jesus. These have included services at various times during the week, and one held in a nearby school hall. At the main centre a variety of ministries have been established and have grown. Kids' Church (Sunday School) meets at the same time as both the 10.00 am morning service and '5CCC' (5 pm), with Youth groups at various times during the week. There are active GFS (girls) and CEBS (boys) groups, a Playcentre for pre-schoolers and their parents, a number of home groups, and specific ministries to women, men and seniors. A school holiday Kids' Club (known as QuHACKK) happens each year in July.

As part of a new area, Quakers Hill Angican Church has seen a relatively high turnover of church members and ministry staff. The founding minister, Stuart Robinson, moved to a ministry position overseas at the end of 1997 and Rev Dane Courtney became the minister-in-charge during 1998.

In recognition of the church's programs and financial stability, its 'Provisional' status ceased and it was reclassified as a Parish from the beginning of 2002, allowing QHAC to take a full part in the life of the Diocese of Sydney.

The church has become well known for the enthusiastic participation of its members, its contemporary style of services, and its willingness to try different ways of communicating the unchanging message of God's grace in Jesus Christ.

A substantial revision of our Mission Statement was produced in 1999. The statement was first created in April, 1991, at the initiation of the Church Committee of Quakers Hill Anglican Church ('QHA'). The initial purpose of the Mission Statement was described by the committee which produced it as fourfold.

First, although all Church Committee members were expressing similar notions of the purpose of QHA, it was necessary to write down a statement which clearly defined why we believe God has placed us together in Quakers Hill.

Secondly, the document was to define the attributes of the ministry that made it unique, or at least different from other churches.

Third, the document needed to detail the community in which the church is growing.

Lastly, the statement gives the estimates of staffing and building needs required to support the ministry described.

This link to the right will take you to a revised form of the first two sections of the original, much longer document.

The Anglican Church at Quakers Hill has operated, intermittently, since the original St Stephen's building was opened in 1921. The church's life as a separate unit began when weekly services commenced on the St. Stephen's site in March, 1990. The present church facility was opened in August 1993.

The Mission Statement was intended from the beginning to be a living document reflecting our willingness to change it as we come to a better understanding of God's plans for us, and as the community of which we are a part grows and develops. All praise and glory and honour to the Lord, our God who called us to the ministry of evangelising the North-West suburbs (and the world). Amen.
